Nice to Meet You!
My name is Emily “Em” Palmerton. I’m the human behind Brick by Brick Sports Nutrition. I am a sports and eating disorders dietitian, yoga instructor, and home bread-baker located in the Southtowns of Buffalo New York.
A little bit about Em…
I started my career as a fitness instructor and massage therapist, earning a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University at Buffalo in 2016 and Massage Therapy Instruction Certification from the NY Institute of Massage in 2017. I completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2020 where I learned to facilitate group classes focused around breath in vinyasa-style classes. From my past experience as a massage therapist, I bring my understanding and appreciation of the nervous system and biopsychosocial model into my movement classes and work as a nutritionist at BBSN.
In 2018, I returned to school to round out my education, becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) just 3.5 short years later. I officially “retired” from massage therapy in 2023 while continuing to teach movement in group yoga classes.
As a dietitian, my experiences expand from eating disorders treatment to elite sport settings. I’ve been lucky to work with a wide range of humans, sports, and stories. I also love to learn, so I created a whole section below to highlight some of the learnings that influence my approach.
I play on a local women’s rugby club team after competing in high school and college. I’m a strong advocate for strength training and mindful movement to support positive embodiment. Outside of sport, I enjoy baking bread, tackling jigsaw puzzles, sipping single-origin coffee, and I just finished crocheting my first granny-square blanket.

I am committed to creating a practice where people of all identities, bodies, and lived experiences feel welcomed, respected, and supported. This includes affirming individuals across diverse backgrounds related to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, body size, ability, and neurotype.
I am well-versed in presentations of ADHD and neurodivergence, including ASD and OCD, and I practice through a neurodivergent-affirming lens while remaining committed to ongoing learning and humility.
My work is grounded in weight inclusivity and the belief that people in all bodies deserve compassionate, evidence-based nutrition care free from weight stigma or shame-based language.
I strive for all of my digital content, educational resources, and learning experiences to be inclusive, robust, and accessible for individuals with disabilities, neurodivergence, and visual or auditory impairments, following WCAG 2.2 guidelines.
